Common Dental Concerns Among Teenagers

Dental Concerns Among Teenagers

Some dental issues are more likely to develop during the teenage years and up until the early 20s. Some of these issues may require professional attention, so it pays off to be familiar with what to expect and know when it’s time to see a dentist.

Here is a list of the top three dental concerns that typically affect teenagers:

  • Crooked or misaligned teeth that require wearing braces to straighten them.
  • Discomfort, pain, or infection caused by wisdom teeth.
  • Some teenagers may be concerned about the appearance of their teeth and may want to try bleaching treatments at home. This isn’t always a wise idea, as non-professional treatments can do more harm than good.

It’s a good idea to get teenagers comfortable discussing dental concerns with their dentist, as this good habit will carry on into adulthood.
